David S Blanco is a graphic designer, illustrator and art director, based in London.
Having graduated from Central Saint Martins School of Art in 2000, David has seventeen years experience in the industry working as a designer, illustrator and art director, both individually and as part of a creative team.
Running his own studio has given David a range of abilities and skills that go beyond just following a brief. Working with a wide range of clients, from small start ups to large corporations, David has a unique understanding of each level of the design process and can single-handedly take a project from initial concept through to final product.
David has designed and produced animated TV commercials for Fidelity Investments, designed the branding and packaging for Marquis Vodka, designed record sleeves and merchandise for numerous record labels and artists, including Rihanna, Kanye West and Sub Pop Records, worked as an illustrator for The Sunday Times, The Guardian & The Independent and illustrated several books. He’s directed numerous music videos, designed product and pattern for fashion brands and he still finds time for his other passion, music.
When David isn’t working for clients, he runs his own independent record label, Blank Editions and has released music from Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Douglas Hart (The Jesus and Mary Chain), Housewives and TOMAGA to name a few. With influences ranging from mid-century Brutalism, minimalism and the 1970’s and 1980’s post-punk scene, David is the art director for all the label’s releases and he designs the sleeves for most.
